In this blog post, I will be providing information on how to make money on X (previously known as Twitter). X is encouraging content creation and thus they reward their content creators handsomely.
There are at least 3 ways you can make money on X. Two of these are more X platform-specific for making money and the other is more like your own way.
Here are the three ways of making money with X:
- Ad revenue sharing program
- Subscriptions
- Providing your affiliate link in your post (for example recommending a product)
We will go through them all and on top of that I will share some tips on how to get more followers so that you can meet that 500-follower requirement that is related to the ad revenue sharing program I will discuss below.

Ad revenue sharing program
How it works?
The way it works is that you create a new post or post a comment and that post or comment is shown on the timeline (home page section on X) and if there’s an ad in it you will get a specific portion of ad payment. What is determining this? It’s determined by the X algorithm. How it works is obviously a secret.
Example of ad in X (I am not affiliated anyhow with ad publisher)
You will get paid once a month. Currently, X is paying their content creators via Stripe. If you live in a country where Stripe is not supported, don’t let it down. If I recall X is also currently investigating other possibilities of payment methods. So even if you have been paid but can’t withdraw your money due to Stripe not supporting your country, be patient and you will get your money eventually.
The beauty of this is that X is sharing money received from the paid ads for all content creators which is very awesome.
Eligibility
In order for you to make money you need to be eligible for their ad revenue share program. The current requirement for the X is the following:
- Have at least 500 followers
- Have a premium verified account (cost on a monthly basis, but totally worth it.)
- Have at least 5 million impressions on your posts within the last 3 months
Simple as that. Don’t worry about that 5 million impressions. You can get it easily if you are enough active and post regularly. Note that the 5 million impressions are not counted from any comments you make, but ONLY from the posts you make.
Before this requirement was 15 million impressions but your comments impressions were counted. In my opinion, this new way is much more sensible and gives a great chance for people to be eligible for the program.

Subscriptions
How it works?
The way you can make money with subscriptions is quite simple. Once you have met the eligibility for this program you can apply for this program. You will get approved immediately once you meet the eligibility requirements. You need to determine how much your subscription cost. This will be monthly basis. X might take a small fee on every monthly subscription.
Your profile would be then coated with the following type of button.
When a person is interested they would then click that “Subscribe” button and voila now you are making money from that subscriber each month as long as they stay subscribed.
This is nice passive income 🙂
You might wonder how this can be this simple. Well, it is but you need to remember that you need to provide some extra and special content for your subscribers to give them even reason to subscribe.
This can be anything, providing for example special charts, unique content, breaking news, and personal stuff for example pictures of your meals :D.
Eligibility
To be eligible for this program you need to meet the following things:
- Be Premium verified
- Be at least 18 years old
- Active in the past 30 days
- Have at least 500 followers

Providing affiliate links
One thing that I love about the X platform is that it doesn’t restrict you from using your affiliate link. This is great especially if you want to recommend a product to people and they are interested in it and if they decide to buy it with your affiliate link you would make a commission.
The way this works is simply by writing a post and in it, you put your affiliate link. It’s that simple.
You can use obviously this same method to get tons of traffic from X to your website or blog where you would sell your product. That would be then pure profit since it’s your own product to be sold.
Tips to get more followers on X
To get your 500-follower requirement and beyond that, I wanted to share some tips on how to get more followers on X that I have learned.
- Post regularly useful and valuable posts and not something unuseful stuff. For example, posting something about your private life might be not the best idea to post it on X.
- Use hashtags in your posts. Adding a hashtag can bring more impressions to your posts, those a growing chance of getting more followers. Add at the end of your post hashtags that are related to the post you have created, by typing the first # and you will see X shows you suggestions. Sometimes these suggestions are not even related, so just keep writing. For example, if I have a post related to how to make money online, I would add the following hashtags at the end of the post #howtomakemoneyonline #makemoneyonline.
- Participated in discussion if you are able to provide useful information. If there’s a discussion for example about a new EV car that is about to be published and people are discussing its specifications or something else that is useful, don’t post a comment like “Wow that’s cool”. That doesn’t bring any value to the discussion and most people will just ignore your message. If you for example provide something useful something like “I have read from site XYZ that this EV is actually having this and this and it might be published around 20XX year.”, that’s more useful.
- Use pictures instead of text if possible. People love to see something that they can visualize instead of reading a huge chunk of text. Of course, pictures are not always suitable for every case. If the text provides more value then go with it. For example, if you create funny posts, then obviously pictures are much more powerful than text.
- Be always positive and not negative. As you might know, nobody wants to follow a negative person. Especially if they are constantly.
- At the beginning of getting more followers journey, follow people back who have just followed you. Thus you will help them out as well.
- If you have a website or blog or use social media remember to provide your X account link there. This way you would expose your X account to more people so that they can follow you. Usually, this link is in the following format: https://www.x.com/user_name
